What is a DOI lookup?
A DOI (Digital Object Identifier) is the permanent code attached to most published papers, like 10.1038/s41586-021-03819-2. A DOI lookup takes that code and returns the paper it points to — its title, authors, abstract, journal, publication date and more — so you can identify or cite a paper from its DOI alone.

Where the data comes from
